Empire Grade Purveyors was founded by Zhanara and Daniel Gallegos in 2015. This food and community project grows out of their previous artistic and educational endeavors around the world. Daniel is a native of Bonny Doon who spent thirteen years working for Chez Panisse Restaurant in Berkeley. Zhanara is a social and cultural anthropologist who focused on contemporary art and community-making.
In the age of numerous additives in our food, we work with premium basic ingredients – flour, butter, water, salt. We make naturally-fermented breads (sourdough) with sustainably-cultivated grains. The fruit and vegetables that go into our baked goods are locally-grown and organic.
